ooblygoobly, why do you blame everything on democrats? Is your little mind so closed you can't see another side of any issue? You are either brain washed or you are just not capable of more than a single thought.

Most of the self-centered and chronically selfish folks I've met have perversely convinced themselves they are exactly the opposite. Whether Americans are more self-centered in the way this poll is written is another matter.

I'm not convinced that we're more wrapped in ourselves than your average Frenchman. But, it IS undeniable fact that the vast majority of Americans are woefully ignorant of world issues in which they play a major part. A Dutch schoolboy knows more of the world across the border than your average American adult, and I ain't talkin' Tijuana or Niagara Falls.

I think less, but the liberal media want us to believe it's the opposite.

Americans are self-centered most of the time. But when something like 9/11, Katrina, happens we as Americans come together. This is a great country.

From what I have seen here concerning non-Americans, they are very selfish. They think our country owes them something because they live here now. I do have a problem with that but what can you do? I think our government makes it to easy for them. How do immigrants manage to collect food stamps and Social Security? This really makes me angry.

I have live abroad for nine years... speaking only about europe experiences... I have no doubt in my vote.... I am pround to be an american with the values we embrace for each other...as our brother's keeper... we are a happy lot and not selfish as the europeans... we take our country for granted too much... euopreans hold the american people in high regard.... that is my experience...

AMERICA! Love it or leave it! The Founding Fathers would disagree with each and every word you've written. Just an FYI.

I think everyone is pretty much just focused on "their team."

Yeah, asking your fellow countrymen to foot the bill for large segments of your life is totally altruistic.

Charity is other-centered; socialism is very self-centered. Socialism operates under the guise of altruism, but every socialist I've known, and I've known more than a few, is very focused on his own well being.

Do you have any facts to back that up? What country consistently comes to the aid of disaster victims?

Europeans measure foreign aid only by what the government gives, and don't count what private donors, churches, etc. contribute. Perhaps because they are taxed too heavily to have much to give? When all sources are considered, Americans are more giving than any other nation.

Use your computer to "google" foreign aid, you'll be pleasantly surprised. Perhaps you can even take some pride in being American.
