Gee, a political party not rubber-stamping whatever its leader does. How refreshing. Think the Reps are taking notes. Nah, me either.

Remember the liberal line a few months ago? "Dissent is patriotic?" That makes Rush Limbaugh the most patriotic person in America! Well, what happened? Liberals? Change your mind?

Huh? Nobody said Rush wasn't patriotic, just stupid. He's a moron who loves his country. So? The question was about dissent among Democrats, Eunoch!

Are you even aware that the cartoon you've chosen to illustrate your bio is Bill the Cat by that bastion of liberal thought, Berkeley Breathed?

So you proved you know something about liberalism. And? I happended to like Bloom County. You see? Another difference between liberals and conservatives. Contrary to liberals, conservatives don't have to hate all things created by people whose political views are on the other end of the spectrum.

There are essentially three parties in the US. A Center/Left party of mostly Democrats; a center Right party of Republicans and of Republicans masquerading as Democrats; and a far right party of dark souls.

Exept the party in power now, is far left. And every year, the "center-leftists" float further to the left and then continue stating they are the center. You also forgot the plethora of Democrats masquerading as Republicans. these two exeptions comprise the majority of Capitol Hill today. Where ya' been buddy? Red Square?

Here is a relevant quote from a Rush Limbaugh listener which may offer some insight into our future with Obama:

"Hi, Rush. I grew up in Sweden. I spent the first 22 years in Sweden. I've been living here for 30 years. Sweden is about to do the same thing, trying to tax the upper income, and as a result of that, they left. I lived there when Bjorn Borg and the pop group ABBA was there, they all left. So who will get stuck with paying the bill? It's the middle-class people of Sweden. So we get stuck paying the bill because nobody else could do it, and as a result of that we have always had a sales tax of 26% because there's no other way. If you can't tax the person any more, you have to go after everything else."

It's a pretty gay example, but still something to think about.

It's healthy because it debunks all the rebubs belief that all democrats support President Obama and that he wants to please only Democrats. This is good.

It doesn't debunk anything...It just shows that Obama's policies are so far left that some of the more moderate Dems just don't feel comfortable backing him. People are beginning to wake up and see through his socialist agenda.

tuffnutt----------- so you think Obama helping the economy is socialist and that's all of us involved but Bush helping out wall street and auto-makers and other big business is OK it's not socialist that's OK by you republicans ...tell me how would you explain hypocrisy ????

There is no hypocrisy here, magil. Answering your last question first...we were told by Bernanke and Paulson that the banks needed an infusion of cash in order to have funds to lend. So, the first $700 Billion was supposed to go to purchase the toxic assets from these instituitons which would free up their cash to lend. Evidently this was bogus and Timothy Geitner was in charge of putting the plan together to get the banking industry moving again. After the funds were approved, Paulson and Geitner changed their minds on how to use the money. I was one of the few Republicans on board with this bailout and now I'm beginning to think I was wrong to support it.

As for AIG, we were told they were too big to fail and that's probably true. They insure all of the big banks and much more worldwide. The money given to them was a loan and they do have the assets to pay this back in full. Not helping AIG would have had horrendous reprocussions throughout the world economy.

Regarding the auto industry, this was more of a Democratic Congress dealing, not Bush. Most Republicans have not supported the auto industry bailout knowing the industry cannot survive in it's current form. This is now being proven by GM as they are now asking for even more money. The failing auto companies need to go ahead and file for Chapter 11 and restructure. They cannot continue in their present form.

What gets my goat is that Obama and the Dems want to raise the CAFE standards on the US automakers making it all the more difficult for them to establish profitability.

As for Obama's helping the economy...He is not helping the economy...

The new $787 Billion Bailout basically is spending on programs that provides very few jobs. The plan is just more tax and spend. Most ot the money is for more govt programs, lest we forget the govt does not produce on tangible item, but is a drag on the economy.

Obama wants to tax the profitable corporations and small businesses that are really the job creators...the Golden Goose. The more they pay in taxes, the less they can expand their businesses and hire workers.

Growing the government at the expense of the private sector is a way to make citizens more beholding to govt. The $13/week some people will see as a result of the stimulus bill will be quickly spent in higher fuel and manufacturing costs through his cap and trade policies.

Magil, you're a smart man...I could go on and on about all of this but I don't need to explain all of this to you. I think you get it.

Bush, at the request of Bernanke and Paulson asked for money to buy up toxic assets and get the banks to lending again.

What Obama is doing is completely different. If you don't like the bail out stuff, you should join me in voting for Newt Gingrich next go
round...He was never for any of these bailouts.

well, magil...currently many of the banks are talking about giving back the stimulus money. They don't want the govt telling them how to run their business. I just heard this on CNBC.

Also, thumbs up to the states that are not wanting the bailout money. Seems like you are saying the same thing.

Creative tension in legislative matters is desirable. Some degree of dissent is inevitable, and we see it within both parties. It's productive in that it helps to vet issues better than if the system were afflicted with massive groupthink.

Some dissent, even a fairly large amount, is actually quite healthy and should be encouraged.

Why waste the time and effort on a single room? If we can get rid of 66% of all dumbocrats, just by sending them in a room, I'll pay for a resort!

Jack here. You must understand that as we put those that don't pay tax aside, the remaining taxpayers comprised of democrats and republicans alike will have to foot all the bill for all these bailouts. So dissent is a very healthy voice especially when applying it to the near future when the bailout bill becomes due.

"Glenn Beck Compares Obama to Jesus, You Think"

Here's your proof if you need it.

A good difference in opinion is a good thing. Not like the differences between reps and dems though. Not everyone will agree on everything so it is okay for dems to disagree among each other. They are still on the right path.

Well said Lin & Lunez..It reminds me of his congressional speech:

I know that we haven’t agreed on every issue thus far, and there are surely times in the future when we will part ways. But I also know that every American who is sitting here tonight loves this country and wants it to succeed. That must be the starting point for every debate we have in the coming months, and where we return after those debates are done. That is the foundation on which the American people expect us to build common ground.
