who gives a shit, lie and say you are a brother or a cousin. we have liars for presidents, a little white lie never hurt anyone, right, I mean if you change the words or the definition of the word you can call it something else and make it more pleasant you know like our leaders do

That this is even an argument or an issue is pretty absurd.

Fortunately, I have not yet experienced this sort of prejudice and injustice, though I always fear that it will occur. I had a kidney stone emergency a few years ago, and my partner was welcomed by everyone on the hospital staff, and his visits were encouraged, which was very reassuring. But just knowing that he could be barred is a burden that I shouldn't have to suffer. And God help the hospital that bars me from seeing him during an emergency.

This is just wrong. Even if someone doesn't agree with this kind of relationship, there is love between the 2 people, even as much as some can't see it, myself included. The concern should be reconised by hospitals, not to do so is cruel. This is taking things too far.

which hospitals would be doing this? what about kids or siblings? I've never been in an ER that limits who; just how many.

If the reason for being in the hospital is serious, having a loved one around you could give you strength to survive whatever you're going through.

What kind of a rule is that?

Makes you absolutely happy and wonderful that a person will die an utterly lonely and painful death and/or suffer while in an emergency situation. As far as you have proven yourself you seem to think they damn well deserve it. You make yourself sound like an uneducated hateful person. MOST gay people do not have aids like you are implying without outright saying it. Just try to imagine ( if you are capable of that ) that you have no family at all and no friends and then put yourself in that situation of utter loneliness will you be happy and comforted by that?

surely you arnt saying that all gays have aids or some other catching disease. how pathetic. i used to work at an aids hospice.. news flash. 85% of our patients were NOT gay! you have the same chance of catching something nasty from your best strait friend as you do a homosexual stranger.

Muslim -- And I hope I'm never in the same hospital as you. While bigotry, hatred and ignorance may not be contagious, I don't want to take any chances.

LOL!!!

Anyone in the next cubicle could be sick and have a communicable disease.

And besides, what's this have to do with a partner or significant other being visiting in the hospital?

That is rediculous. Iif as a people we will not allow them to marry, we absolutely at least need to give them civil unions with the same rights as married couples.

it is important to have the support of loved ones in a hospital.

Freedom4,

Marriage is a Holy Union between a Man and Woman.... But with that being said, I totaly believe that there should be a union between them.... We are all created equal....

So saying that the family of this gay person is stupid and prejudice has disowned this person and the only true person they have for a family is not allowed to visit. So this person gets to suffer with nobody to support them. Totally and utterly alone except strangers and how much can they care for them as an individual. How stupid, prejudice, uncaring, and horrible can they be?

I am not a proponent of the lifestyle....but a patient , especially in a critical situation, NEEDS his/her Signifigant Other.....this is stupid not to allow gay partner in ED...and is not putting the patients care first

That policy could have a negative impact on thepatient's condition.

This may be HIPPA-related. HIPPA sucks and needs to be revised in many respects.
