Wishful thinking on my part. Our healthcare system is barbaric to say the least. Profiting, on peoples pain and misery. Wow, in this century too. Something very wrong with that.

Hmm, I wonder why we have MSG, Aspartame, High Fructose, Transfat in 98% of our "food", and massive 'Prescription' drugs with 10M side effects, etc...... Oh yeah, that creates PROFIT!!!

Guess what, I'm no liberal but if there were universal health care in this country, you would see our disgusting food supply clean up, real quick like... We already pay more than enough taxes to cover it.. 850B bailout for bankers, that money would have covered national health care for 5 years... whatever..

A National Health care plan should be a MUST for Obama as it's due. Not one to cover everything but one for the Basic necessities. It's only the Moral thing to do.

The economy was headed for the crapper in 2001. The foundation was being laid for it. They falsely kept it afloat with bubbles that they hoped would stay afloat long enough to finish the neocon 'agenda'. It almost worked. Had help from BOTH dems and repubs to accomplish. Both parties are responsible but the neocon party with help of Alan Greenspan kicked off the bubbles.

The economy was done for in 2002 when interest rates were lowered through the floor and Bush borrowed 7 trillion dollars since then for war funding and lining the pockets of his pals (bankers, contractors, etc). His buddies the federal reserve bank kept the printing presses rolling non stop, and devalued our dollar lower than it has ever been.

You cant blame the economy on the democrats unless you are truly delusional. And you also have not even seen the worst of it yet, and no, its not Obama's fault. Obama only has 10 fingers against a dyke with 1000 leaks. I am sure the delusional will still blame this on Obama though..

Who cares? It's showtime!!!

People seem to forget that less than 2 years ago the stock market reached a record high, unemployment was at 4.5% and consumer confidence was up.

But America wanted change so they elected a Democratic congress and since then the market plummeted along with consumer confidence as unemployment went through the roof.

The Clinton administration forced the sup-prime lenders into giving loans that the borrowers could not afford and that's the excuse given to bail out the banks and for the government to take control.

"It's Bush's fault" was the battle cry and the foolish masses swallowed it up hook, line and sinker.

So now, we will see what happens when Uncle Sam has full control. I don't think it's going to be the fun ride everyone is expecting. I'm just going to sit back have an Irish coffee and enjoy the show.

Any health care plan will take years to get off the ground. Energy independence will take a decade even if everything were to go okay (and many decades if they didn't), and climate change is a gradual thing that would take longer still.

Just leaving the economy alone for two years would probably allow it to rebound, so an economic recovery has to be at the top of that list unless Obama channels the spirit of FDR and finds a way to drag this thing out ten years..

tracy, I didn't realize that is what flounder was talking about. Anyway, Obama did call Mrs Reagan to apologize. They explained that comment on Hardball. I guess Mrs Reagan does meet with psychic to see if there is a way she can talk to her dead husband. I know a lot of people believe in that but I personally don't. This couple had the kind of love most only dream of. They were very lucky for many years.

Hi apple, I am sure flounder is referring to the slip up by Michelle about for the first time in her adult life she is proud of her country. I believe that President Obamas top priorities will be to : 1 > push an economic stimulus package through , 2 > by executive order reduce the tax rate for those making less than
$ 1/4 million / yr , 3 > by executive order reduce the capital gains tax for small businesses making less that $ 3 million / yr to stimulate small businesses , 4 > by executive order implement a higher winfall profits tax to increase the federal coffers , 5 > by executive order impose a ceaseation on all home foreclosures for at least 3 months to allow struggling homeowners to stay in their homes , at least through the Winter

and 6 > ( this is my favorite ) anyone that wants to move their companies overseas to avoid paying their fair share of taxes , by executive order , buy them a plane ticket to anywhere they want to go , bid them adieu, and then forbid their entry back into the USA, and put them on the terrorist watch list in case they try and sneak back in, and furthermore , forbid their products from being sold in the USA.
