I will say it again....the Congressional Republicans do not intend to vote for ANY stimulus package because its passage will be viewed, and rightfully so, as a victory for Obama. It's about the next election, not creating new jobs, and they ironically have Bush to thank for wrecking the economy so deeply that the stimulus may work very slowly.

I will say it again......you can thank the Democrats for wrecking the economy and then destroying it with the stimulus package. Why would the Republicans want to be a part of that?
No, this is all on Obama's shoulders now. Let's see what a fine job he does with it.

One that is not a vast majority Pork that has nothing to do with long term growth, or actually stimulating the economy.

Maybe the demcorats should try actually improving the economic situation instead of simply using this as an opportunity to pay off all of their voters and spend a lot of money when we have none on their programs that are proven to fail.

Of course they wont, because it will be seen as a victory for Obama and make it harder on them to pick up seats during the 2010 midterm elections. It's a cold political calculation that has nothing to do with arresting the loss of jobs during this recession.

Whats a sinsible package? Wait till half of America is unemployed? And then say payroll tax cuts for them? Hey stupid, they aint got a job to get a cut in thier payroll tax!
If a tree needs water you dont water the leaves! You water the soil so the roots can give nutrients to the tree stupid! Besides Obama has said over and over again If you have a good idea then bring it to the table. And what did the repukes do? The same old 8 year thing, tax cuts for th rich so they can give us a trickled down job of rolling out ONE new $5 million dolla carpet.

The whole idea behind the stimulus was to stimulate the economy, right. The repubs want to use tax cuts. The dems want to issue money for roads and bridges and other infrastructure. This isn't the problem. If you cared about your money you would want it being used for the benefit of the economy, right? Well, as this bill stands it is loaded with garbage that will not create one single job, i.e. atv trail clean-up, frisbee golf courses, sod and others. This represents just a few of the porkers in this bill. I don't know about you, or if you even care, but I would rather not be responsible for laying debt on several future grandchildren. Of course you have to be looking at the big picture

You mean to tell me that there isn't anything in the bill for roads, briges and etc.? You so full of crap. Upkeep in schools and also student loans are JOBS ! Somebody has to do it! If only a tax break for those who are left with a job continues a downward spiral. It makes no new job! We have to issue funding in the system for work for companies wo do the work to overload so they will hire new workers. And right now we need work on the infranstructure. Hey didnt you see the brige in Minneapolis fall? Hey I know some people want to see America fall. The Repubs has to rep. them too. Thier Americans too. "Pass the bill."
